Where The Wild Things Are - 77th District Wins It Again

Los Angeles, CA

The LAPD has released its citywide stats for May. Though homicides and rapes are down overall, they're up in a few places. Hollenbeck and Newton, for example.

Last month it was a pretty close call between the 77th Street and Southwest Divisions. This time around, though, it's pretty clear that 77th takes it hands down (warning: .PDF). Though homicides are down with 10 this from 11 last, rapes are up by four to 10, and aggravated assaults are up 24 to 147.

Congratulations, 77th. You're a shining example of what L.A. can do when it puts its mind to something. Now do us all a favor and go shoot yourselves, would ya?

I've once read that South Central LA has more homicides than the entire nation of Canada, which is a frightening thought.
