A Father's Day Tale

Sunland, CA

So, Father's Day was yesterday. That's one of those holidays I just don't get. Celebrating the fact that somebody's got a high sperm count? I mean, seriously, how is that a feat? And what do the dads get out of this, anyway? A tie, a coffee mug, an Amber Alert.

Jose Luis Ortega, 26, is being sought by police after shooting his estranged wife at least a dozen times and driving off with their two sons, 3-year-old Luis Gonzalo Ortega and 5-year-old Diego Fabian Ortega. The unidentified woman is in critical condition in the hospital.

The truck Ortega was in was found last night in Lancaster. Seems Mr. Ortega has ties in Las Vegas and Mexico.

Let's see. He heads north to Lancaster. So, head out to Vegas to grab some shut eye next?  Swipe some cash and swap cars from a buddy before hightailing it down through Arizona into Mexico? What do you think, Nogales?

Either way, they'll grab him somewhere along the route, I'm sure. Can't be easy to run with two toddlers in the back screaming for juice boxes and wondering what happened to mommy. Maybe stash the kids with a relative in Vegas and keep on running.  Hell, maybe he's still stuck in Lancaster.

Ortega is 5 feet 6 and 180 pounds. Diego was wearing a blue and green checkered shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. Luis was wearing a red checkered shirt and white shoes. If you see them you know what to do.

Sounds like you've got this one half-written.
